| At our October meeting, Deacon Nick Valdez retired from his position as our department chaplain. Deacon Nick was our chaplain for 15 years, guiding our members and their families through their darkest hours with grace, humility, and wisdom.
Nick is a lifelong resident of Wood-Ridge, a veteran of the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, a retired Wood-Ridge Police Detective, a charter member of the Bergen County Arson Squad, an ordained deacon, and a friend to all.
We wish him and his wife Carol the best of luck as they move South to be closer to their family and hope they won’t be strangers. Our doors will be open and they’ll always be a part of our family.
